22 April 2013 North Chagrin
We came for a walk this evening to look for wildflowers and check our geocaches hidden here. I was surprised when Ali stopped by a large vernal pool on the trail and said there was a wood duck on the far side of the pool. The light was already starting to fade and the duck was moving around a lot, but she stayed visible long enouhgh for a reasonable image. Seeing her was a nice bonus for our walk.
21 April 2013 Trees and Hepatica
We have a high opening in our land where we want to mix in dogwoods near the edge of the clearing. I had picked up the trees a week prior so this morning was planting time. Hopefully these dogwoods will eventually ring the opening with spring blossoms. After that, it was time to head into the woods and look for hepatica. We were too early on our last visit and hoped to find plants still in bloom. We were still too early. The flowers were still a week or so away from opening, but we were happy to find a number of plants ready to bloom. On our way down the path, Ali spotted a nice rock with some interesting fossils.
20 April 2013 Caching Warren
We had built-up a few unfound caches in Warren so we headed out for a short afternoon and evening of geocaching near home. Gwen and Eva got a walk on the bike trail north of town, but most of the caches were short walks and quick finds. We were muggled by Cubs Den at one of their hides and spent some time visiting. We ended the day with the best cache of the day. It was located in a small wooded area just south of the Allegheny River. We stopped for the find very close to sunset.

I will always long to once again hear your thundering feet as you raced through the woods from smell to smell.

Her tag said Mama's Baby (and she was).
