2 September 2023 Donkeys and Mules

I expect some day the donkey and mule show will end at the Geauga County Fair. One look tells how this portion of the fair is for the eldest of the fair entrants. We will stay and watch as long as we and they are around. With a little luck the youngsters who ride will stay around as they become adults.
We stopped for a park walk after the morning's events. The summer wildflowers will soon wind down, but the last of the butterflies were still here for our pleasure.

3 September 2022 Donkeys at the Fair

Our second day at the Geauga Fair is always centered on the Donkey and Mule Show.  It's a very small group of donkey and mule owners proudly showing the talents of their animals.  Many of the four-legged participants are rescued wild animals.  The event is a mix of young and old.

Despite the bonds between these people and their animals, they can still be stubborn moments in the relationship.

They are dedicated community showing their love and pride in the animals they show.  The annual ahow is always a must see for us.

3 September 2021 The Fair is Back

We were happy to be back at the Great Geauga County Fair.  It was much quieter this year.  We didn't spend much time near people.  It was different, yet familiar, and comforting.

31 August 2019 Geauga Fair (Saturday)

We were back at the fair for the donkey and mule activities.

The empty early-morning midway is kind of creepy.

But the ag fair was busy and active including the donkeys and mules.

This is serious business until your animal decides to roll in the dirt

or just decide to be stubborn.

They will wear socks if they are dressed.

They will even jump over bars.

There was time for one last visit for Ali with the goats before we were on our way.

30 August 2019 Geauga Fair (Friday)

Dress your fowl time...

If I were the duck dressed as Trump, I would be offended too.  The secret service agent idea was creative.

The goat's were friendly so Ali was happy.

The vegetable novelties had some creative entries.

Time for a ballon launches and horse pulls.

They are up!

And Moving Away....

The team with the yellow tack would be pulling for a long while.

Pulling a full sled under the lights.

1 September 2018 Geauga Fair Part 2

Last year I basically missed our Friday at the county fair with a long business meeting. We came back on Saturday and found the donkey events. This year we came back again to focus in the donkey events. The fair is pretty wide open on what is a donkey, but it was fun.

This is serious competition. ;)

Sometimes you just need to roll.

The thrill of victory!
