20 July 2024 Wildlife at West Woods

It was a perfect warm summer evening to visit West Woods. There were at least eight ducks in this surprise sighting.

Frogs were plentiful on the water.

We topped the walk a great sighting of this cedar waxwing.

Many thanks to the Young Rascals for saying it so well. Someone recently visited this blog through its Waymarking page and refered to the visit as feeling like a voyeur. I never thought of it that way. Our journey today never got more than 6-7 miles from home. We visited in order the farmer's market in Russell, the art show and trails of Geauga Park's Westwoods, Muggleton Farms, Frohring Meadows, and Fantasy Island. If your either a geocacher or a Harry Potter fan, you have to smile at the thought of walking or caching at Muggleton Farm. It was a special summer day. I hope you enjoyed the photos. :-)

1 August 2008 Sunset Overlook







It was a pleasant walk with wildflowers and frogs. The sunset wasn't the best, but spending time on a quiet bench was. This is where we met Gwen's breeder the evening she came home with us.

7 September 2007 West Woods






This was evening number two of rounding up letterboxes in the park district. Our target this evening was West Woods which also had an unfound cache. We found the cache near sunset and headed off into the darkness to bring back the letterboxes. Ansel's Cave is a great place to visit after dark. There were quite a few owls and LOTS of toads. There were toads everywhere. It was tough to avoid them, but we did. :-)
