28 July 2022 Clearfork Reservoir

Clearfork Reservoir is another place we would never have visited without geocaching.  On the day of our visit it was a quiet, peaceful place for a walk along the trail that runs along the shore.

I don't spend time on water anymore and never sailed, but this peaceful boat on the water made me wish for a quiet place to do something like this.

A fawn seemed mostly unconcerned about our presence.

A trio of black ducks

This was a very peaceful place and a great way to start a weekend away.

21 July 2022 Back-to-Back Little Green Herons

After work I stopped for a visit to Moebis Nature Preserve.  I wasn't expecting to spot a little green heron on yet another day, but after enjoying the view and spotting a frog or two, I spied the little green heron near the left side of the first image.  When they are here, that area seems to be a magnet.  It was a very pleasant surprise.

20 July 2022 Sights Along a Bike Path

Months prior I had lost my wedding ring while at the local recycle center.  I tried to locate it and continued with the hope that it would return.  We finally agreed hope was lost and it was time to replace my ring.  We decided to get a new set of matching bands 💕 .  After visiting the jeweler to pick up the rings, we headed off for a walk together to enjoy the sights along the bike path.

A stream and the surrounding wet area yielded a very nice frog and a damselfly.

The real surprise of the walk was a great looking green heron near a bridge over the stream crossing.

Best of all, she's keeping me.

17 July 2022 Walking Paine Creek

A friend had placed a series of geocaches along the walk on Paine Creek.  We were happy for an afternoon to enjoy the trails, the sights, and the geocaches.  We had just reached the water when we spotted a great blue Heron along the bank.

The streambed is between two deep stone cuts.

It was a perfect day on the water.

16 July 2022 Local Parks

I had a few errands to run which took me near the Rogers Road field in Cleveland Metroparks.  This is one of the best open fields for wildflowers and birds.

This area is a mecca for goldfinches.  This one was snacking on a leaf.

After the errands, we gathered up Liz and Phin for a visit to Lake Metroparks Penitentiary Glen.  We were here to find a few caches and enjoy what summer was offering.  We made a journey down the long stairs to bring the dogs to the stream at the bottom and a drink of fresh water.

The wildlife sightings were almost as numerous as the weddings in the park. 😊

We spotted this great blue on the way out for our walk.  It was in a tough place to get an image, but was in a better spot on our return.

Northeast Ohio doesn't have many places for fairy candles.  LMP's Penetentiary Glen offers a healthy number trailside in the woods.

12 July 2022 Hummingbird Moth on Flowering Buckeye Bush

The near constant motion of hummingbird moths makes capturing an image a challenge. They are rarely seen.  We are lucky that they seem to be attracted to the blossoms of the buckeye bushes and blooming monarda.

10 July 2022 Visiting Lake Metroparks

Our afternoon visit a few parks started off well with an osprey sighting near the Lake Erie Shore.

A wetlands pond was busy with summer wildlife.

Rain has been light leaving the falls flowing lightly.
