20 December 2007 Santa Claus, Indiana

It was raining buckets on my drive from Evansville to Louisville. My hope for caching my way back had been dashed after two finds at a park near our office. Since it's the perfect season to visit Santa Claus, I made a detour. The town was disappointing. It didn't seem overly friendly and wasn't really decorated. Maybe with a main street manager they could really draw the visitors. I had fun. Now it's time to go home (finally). I hope Santa didn't lose my Christmas list. :-) I wasn't sure what he meant with the part about being naughty and lumps of coal. ;-)

If you don't go in the middle of the night when it's raining, the town is not disappointing. You have pics of a couple things in town, but not of some of the best parts: Holiday World (rated cleanest, freiendliest amusement park in the world), Santa's Candy Castle (dating back to the 30's), Santa's Lodge (fantastic hotel/restaurant), Lake Rudolph (world-class campground / RV resort), a picturesque town hall and many other things. Give it another chance sometime...

I was passing through about six in the evening. I wouldn't have disturbed the town if it were the 'middle of the night'. Sorry you seem to be offended by a visitor's comments. There's a lot to see and do in this world. Sometimes a town only gets one chance. There's lots to see and do in Southern Indiana. My one visit didn't show enough to bring me back.
