3 July 2021 Buzzard Swamp

A long holiday weekend and longer days gave us different choices for longer outings.  We've made visits to the flat swamp area of Buzzard Swamp before.  The area is filled with wildlife and always offers a different experience.  Today there seemed to be butterflies everywhere.

We rarely see morning cloaks by the start of summer.  Today there were many along the trail.

The small pools alongside the trail were teeming with wildlife.

The watchful eyes of a parent...

This was the end of the line for us on today's walk.  It was hot.  We always have plenty of water for the dogs, but still hold back the distances on really warm days.

Identifying younger sparrows is beyond my birding knowledge.  This one was breaking into song while perched.

This lesser yellow legs wasn't at this pool on our way out.  It was there for the return.

This was a perfect way for us to spend an afternoon.
