6 August 2024 After the Storm
Five torandos passed through the area. The destruction was a bit numbing. I was nursing two dying dogs and Ali was back east for a funeral. Still, we were much luckier than so many people. I needed a break from our aging dogs, the damage at the house and the ongoing pressures of my work. The Rookery was close by and mostly spared the damage from the storm.

20 July 2024 Wildlife at West Woods
It was a perfect warm summer evening to visit West Woods. There were at least eight ducks in this surprise sighting.
Frogs were plentiful on the water.
We topped the walk a great sighting of this cedar waxwing.

4 July 2024 Holiday Visit to Hogback Ridge
The two-tiered fanning waterfalls at Hogback Ridge are a sight to enjoy. Despite nearing the middle of summer, the flow across the falls was still strong.
First frog of our visit...
Back-to-back bunny sightings on park visits...
Blue vervain was in bloom at the water's edge...
This salamander appeared to be sleeping when I spotted it.
Another frog sighting finished our journey.
