2 June 2007 Medina Caching Event and Ohio State Park Series

We attended the Medina "Amazing Race" type event. We drove to the event with Kathy and added Cold one to our team since his teamies were not available. It was a fun event. Cold one is a different cacher and a lot of fun. The Medina volunteers put together a fun event with one of the event caches placed near the remaining cabing of an old Nudist Camp that is now on park grounds.

After the event we teamed up with our friends Chris K and Lep to head over to the Ohio State Park series We had a great time with last year's series and were looking forward to another fun series. The afternoon and evening was a lot of fun with the easygoing Kathy, Lep, and Chris K. We were able to grab all the series caches in Portage Lakes State Park and Quail Hollow State Park.

31 May 2007 Barred owls in Metzenbaum

It was a treat to come upon our second bard owl nest of the season. After hearing the sound made by these owls as you approach, we no longer needed to see them to know that there was a nest nearby. They were quite unhappy with our presence and hissed there feelings to us. Unlike the babies we saw at the North Chagrin sighting, the owls we saw this evening were the parents. We snapped a few pictures and moved on. The photo quality isn't great, but the memory of this sighting is very clear.

27 May 2007 Tanbark Trail and Lost Lake

It was a wet day on the trails. It's a tradition for us to hike Tanbark over the Memorial Day weekend to look for painted trilliums. We had hiked from 62 to a quarter mile from Sandstone Springs when we heard the thunder. Armed with rain gear we made our way back to 62. Once the thunder stopped, we made our way over to the State Game Lands near Hearts Content and hiked to Lost Lake. We grabbed three caches on the way.

If you look really closely, a young eagle is visible.

24 May 2006 Maple Highlands Trail

Ali joined the bike patrol for the park district. She has been biking in the evenings. When possible, I join her. She may not think that's such a good idea. One day, but it hasn't happened yet, I will fall off my bike while taking pictures and riding. In the meantime, I will continue to take shots like this. The central section of this trail is very scenic.
