26 August 2018 An Ending

The day we closed on our home, we visited this mall. It was a strange and exciting day for us. I remember walking around the mall and thinking this was a place we could stop and buy things we needed for the home. The home sale closed in January, but that didn't matter as we stopped and purchased flower bulbs from a store. We stopped for a cd to enjoy on the drive home. We stopped often on our walk that day as it was a day when my health was a wreck. It is all gone now, the book store, the music store, the bulbs. The mall had fallen on hard times in recent years. A nearby WalMart drove the last nail. The death of BonTon wrote the inscription on the tombstone. It will live on as a shopping strip. The remaining stores aren't typical stops for us so this won't be a place to visit. This morning I was here hoping to buy new riding helmets for us from the outdoor store, but the selection was terrible. Ironically, I stopped at the same nearby WalMart where a large selection met our needs. Everything changes. Nothing stays the same. It is usually not for the better.

We wore our new helmets for a fun bike ride near our home. After some outdoor chores, we took the dogs for a quiet walk along the river. The river is still here and so are the flowers along the trail. Maybe not everything changes...

Square-stemmed monkey flower and turtlehead were rare this year. Today we were able to spot a few blossoms of monkey flower.
