21 June 2024 Visiting Moebis

I had been making a piority for a visit to Moebis Nature Preserve or Sunny Lake. This evening was Moebis. My first sighting was this odd couple sharing a pair of tree branches.

I ended thee evening with a great sunset at nearby Orchard Hills.

6 May 2024 Later Walk at Orchard Hills

I left work later and arrived at Orchard Hills for late visit. I noticed there might be a bird nest in the entrance way.

The nest was made of straw and likely made by one of the park's species of sprarrows.

The late light cast a glow on the trees and fields.

Once I reached the small pond I stayed through sunset hoping for a heron and watching the swallows.

1 May 2024 Blossoms and Later Sunsets

The spring flowers have been plentiful this spring. We have bouquets of trilliums this spring.

Pawpaw blossoms are not common.

Jack-in-the-pupits in bunches.

We left time for a walk along the river.

9 February 2024 Panthers, Manatees, and 10,000 Islands

It seems like a different landscape than one expects from Florida. We didn't spot panthers, but the birds were plantiful.

Pelicans were plentiful on our journey.

This one treated us to a wonderful neck stretch.

This was a visit for beautiful sunsets.

No panthers. No manatees, but a peaceful journey enjoying the sights and finding a few geocaches.

10 November 2023 Observatory Park

Zinnias are wonderful summertime flowers with staying power to often keep them blooming until Thanksgiving.

I don't visit this park often. It is unique as one of the few dark sky parks in the country. On our visit on this fall day, it was a blue sky park. The weather was perfect for using the park's sun dial to find the time.

Who knows if wooly bears can predict the winter. A local weatherman started the Wooley Bear Festival in a small town in Western Ohio decades ago. Today, it remains the state's largest festival. I enjoy spotting them slowly making their way through the world.

The sun drops low on the horizon as we make our way back on the trail.

With my travel schedule for work, we don't have many evenings to see sunset together. This evening's was awesome.

10 November 2021 Watching Sunset

 I wish I had more time to see the sun go down.  This evening, I was returning home from a business trip and was hours away.  Watching sunset at Shades Beach seemed like a good plan.

10 September 2021 Lake Erie Sunset

For me, sunset is the most peaceful time.  Tonight, we made a visit to the lake, sat on a swing, and enjoyed time together.  There was no green flash this evening, but there was quiet time to sit and enjoy.
