31 July 2023 Hummingbirds
We were returning to one of the pioneer cemeteries that is usually home to hummingbirds. We missed seeing any on our prior day visit. The wildflowers in the cemetery had brought bees collecting nectar.
We were happy to spot hummingbirds out for an early morning territory battle.

30 July 2023 Covered Bridges and Flowers
We started our morning with a visit to a couple more covered bridges. These are older bridges and greater markers of the past.
We made our annual return visit to two of the pioneer cemeteries. The cemeteries are home to small stands of the prairie wildflowers that were common here before farming and housing erased much of the beauty.

29 July 2023 Union County
Butterflies slowly fall apart as the summer passes.
This covered bridge was built to replace an older covered bridge that was relocated to a road with less traffic. This is a truly modern structure with a paved road covered by a non-integrated bridge structure on the top.
Columbus area rivers all seem to have muddy sections.
Lobelia growing in the damp area near the bridge.
27 July 2023 Going Home
Going home after a business trip is always something to anticipate. Being able to stop and enjoy a bit of wildlife is a bonus.

15 July 2023 Hummingbird Moth
Hummingbird moths are difficult to capture as they frequently move and have very fast wing motions. They are a very interesting piece of summer to spot. This one was in a sea of monarda which likely kept it in the area for longer than usual. Enjoy the images.
