26 September 2009 Findley Lake and Erie County
It was supposed to stop raining before we drove multiple counties to hunt some longer walking caches at Findley State Park. We had no luck with the weather. Our first few caches were just made in grey, damp weather. By the time we took the dogs on one of the longer walks to our friend Ron's hide, it was raining a lot. It was grey and miserable, but we had driven too far to hang it up and go home.
Our last stop of the day was at a small private park called Walnut Tree Park. It was a very pleasant surprise. There was a stream running through the park with a good variety of trees. Two sides of the park were surrounded by corn fields.
We saw a lot of paw paw fruit this year. Some years we see a few. Most years we see none. This year there was a lot to be seen. While we visited the park, a family was here gathering black walnuts, but they left the paw paw.
Are we in Kansas?
