12 August 2011 Trains and Boats and Balloons?
We were caching this evening in Hudson. A few of the sights reminded me of an old Burt Bacharach song called Trains and Boats and Planes, except the last was a balloon floating by. The song was a hit for Dionne Warwick in another time.
The trains go by this spot so fast they will pull a hat off your head.

5 August 2011 Posted
We've owned our place for a while and never felt the need to do more than post a few signs along the property line. While Ali was back east, I noticed tread ruts along our north trail. I started to build a small wall to keep out the ATVjerks riders. Today we both noticed deep tread ruts and a lot of damage along the south trail. I was seriously honked. I made a good start on a second stone wall and after all these years we have added physical barriers to our trails. We'll soon be adding heavy permanent barriers to keep trespassers off the property. I have never been a fan of ATV riders. The majority of them seem to lack the land to ride the vehicles legally and ignore property laws. How irritating.

4 August 2011 8000 Finds, Jakes Rocks, and the ANF
The day had arrived for us to hunt number 8000 with the dogs. We were one cache shy so this morning was a perfect morning to find a cache hidden by Pirate and Jakes Rocks. I have no idea how we missed seeking this super hide, but we found it today. The dogs enjoyed most of the scamper through the rocks and later a more sedate walk back to number 8,000.

31 July 2011 Marysville to the Prairies
On our way to the prairie preserves we stopped to find a cache at this bridge. The bridge was built in 1914 and is nearing 100 years of service. The bridge's craftsmanship is wonderful. Too bad we need to import our bridges from China now.
We were hoping the prairie dock would be in bloom, but it was too early. The other flowers were great.
.
There are often many hummingbirds buzzing in the wildflowers.
We enjoyed a visit to rhe 1873 Bigelow Bridge and a cache find.

30 July 2011 MWGB and Beyond
We actually did a little caching on the way to Midwest Geobash. We're usually really late leaving the hotel and barely have time to make the reviewer panel. This mornign was a little odd since we were out the door with time to hunt a few. We stopped at a small reservoir along the way. We ran into a cacher from Texas on our walk and had a nice visit. We also saw this osprey who was hunting on the shallow side of the dam. The osprey proved it knew where the fishing was good by grabbing a fish and heading off for breakfast.
We ended up spending more time at MWGB than we had planned. As we were parking, we spotted Liz and Wes a few rows away. MWGB was their 4,000th find. We were happy to be able to spend a part of the day with them. We attended the reviewer panel and then were off to grab the fairgrounds caches. Liz had tried the Whereigo's the evening before with her Oregon so I gave it a try with Droid. We weren't the only people having no luck with the first one. We gave one more a chance and walked away from the remainder. We made a stop at the commercial area where Ali grabbed a couple of coins and we were off for the day.

Most years we take MWGB as a good reason to visit Michigan for some caching and sights. This year, we were planning to push a few Ohio counties to 10 and head for the Prairie Cemeteries before returning home so we cached locally for a good part of the afternoon before heading for Marysville. We had a lot of fun on the bike trail and were able to say hi to a number of cachers before moving on.
