16 March 2024 A Walk Mentor Marsh Nature Preserve

It was great weather for a Saturday walk at Mentor Marsh. Bloodroot and Spring Beauty were in bloom along the trails in the woods. We also spotted a garter snake moving through last fall's weeds. We were hoping to spot warblers on the walk. We spotted one, but it was too far for me to capture in an image. The water near the Lake Erie shore was busy with traffic from common mergansers which had arrived. As usual they looked as though they were racing with their swept-back feathers.
