30 August 2020 Visiting Stark

It was a hot day.  We decided to take the dogs and lots of water.  Our first stop was the old Tam O'Shanter golf course.  It still has many of its old trees and we were walking a short loop so the dogs and the heat were easy to manage.

For some reason this old golf course is also a hot spot for seeing cedar waxwings and flickers.

We moved from Tam O'Shanter to an old Pennsylvania Railroad spur that has been converted to a rail trail.  The first portion of the trail was more sunny and open than the old golf course, but we were quickly into trail sections with shade on either side.

Phin is a beagle.  He is excited by every animal smell on the trail.  The bigger the animal, the happier he seems including horses and cows.  He saw and smelled plenty of cows on this walk.  He was baying happily for a good portion of the walk.

While our first stop yielded some very good bird sightings, this stop gave us multiple butterflies.  We did one half of the trail with the remainder waiting for a future outing.
