18 September 2020 Vacation Starts Near Pittsburgh

This was it.  It had been almost a year since I became deathly ill on a vacation trip to Shenandoah.  I was really unable to do much at the park and ruined our vacation.  Ali agreed to a redo of our special anniversary trip.  I was just hoping lightning would not strike twice.  We planned ahead and were well prepared for addressing COVID risk.  Now we just needed to have fun.  Today was a day of last prep and packing as well as driving.  We were able to carve time to stop near Pittsburgh for a series of challenge caches placed on a rail trail.  The trail was just another rail trail  in a semi-urban area, but there were enough nature sites and geocaches to enjoy a first day on our vacation.

The first New England Asters of the fall for us

There were nice-sized bass in the stream beside the trail.

It has been a year for spotting tussock moth caterpillars.

Coronavirus Rex is masked up, but the mask seems a wee bit small.
