12 July 2009 Dobby’s Home, Overlooks, and Elk
We were going to Elk County today to see the Elk. :-) We took a different way there to find a 2001 cache called Dobby’s Home in Elk State Forest. It was a perfect reason for a detour. The cache is located along the Fred Woods Trail which is filled with giant rocks, small caves, and mountain laurel. We explored out and back. To top it off, there is a great view close to the cache.
Gwen knows how to relax...
After Dobby’s Home we headed off to an overlook area. There are nice views in wide arc. It’s different for the area since you get an overlook across an arc. There were no elk in view in the late afternoon.
Our last stop was to see the elk. We saw lots of elk this evening. There were more than on our past visit. It was a very quiet, relaxing evening. They are very good at being near the road at just the place where stopping to photograph them is impossible. ;-)
