18 July 2009 Visiting Clarion

It doesn't take much to please a dog. Gwen has a soft-sided folding dog crate in the geomobile. It has a zipper in the top. I usually sit on the rear bumper and open the top of the crate when we are stopped for ice cream. Lately, we have been leaving the zipper undone so Gwen can pop her head out and look around. She seems really happy at the new feature.

Common wood nymphs usually don't stop often and are skittish. I was lucky to get a handful of shots at this photo. I like the look of the ferns in the background.

We wouldn't go to Clarion without a visit to Cook Forest. It is a wonderful place to be.

Clarion Furnace is the oldest iron furnace in Clarion County. The old furnace is in rough shape with only about one-quarter of the structure still intact. There are flags and markers near the site so maybe someone is going to preserve what remains.

This cascade in Cook Forest is serene. Last October two really nice people were married at this falls. The cache placed there is called Love Never Dies. It was a nice stop with Ali and the dogs.
