6 January 2019 Geocaching Milestones

We were out for an adventure to find our 17,000th cache.  It was a snow free day and mild for January.  The weather made the roads to our hiking start a little muddy.

The walk to the hide area in a rock structure was easy and for us a gentle climb.

The hide was in a fissured rock structure.  There are always many, many locations for a hide here.  We had some idea based on the name of the cache that the hide would be in a very tight fissure.

Eventually, I took Liz and Phin so Ali could hunt the find.  In a few minutes she was able to locate the tightest spot and squeeze through even with winter clothes.

These milestones have always included us trying to pose with the dogs for a timer image with the camera.  They have generally degraded into sessions of mostly laughing.  Phineas always wants to be moving on the trail and Lizzie is a bit camera shy.  Today was no exception.

Ali took the container back through the rock maze before we switched and she kept the dogs so I could journey into the tight corridor.

I wasn't going to make the narrowest passage with multiple layers of winter wear so I returned without a visit to the hide location.

We ended our day with an easy walk along the old Knox and Kane Railroad grade.  The Kinzua Bridge is gone as are the tracks that led there, but there are still a few remnants of the old railroad and what was once the area's best tourism attraction.
