5 July 2019 Returning to Forest County

We had a fun day on the fourth and I was happy for a return to Forest County for another day in the ANF.  We cached and explored some older closed roads while enjoying an afternoon with the dogs on this long weekend.

July and August are always great times to be out to see butterflies in the ANF.

The internet is a place where fact becomes whatever someone wants to claim.  I was surprised to see claims that indian pipes are rare.  In our travels they are fairly common in the woods.  During the right time of the summer we are always on the lookout for this unique woodland wildflower.

The woods yielded yet another sighting of one of sillier internet items.  We spotted what many people call an indian trail tree.  The bend in the trunk is supposed to have been created as sort of directional sign in the woods.  If that were the case, it would mean there are people still out creating these trees as this is a fairly young example.

When you are helping with the cache hunting...

Lizzie needs to rest occasionally.
