4 March 2024 Phin
He has cancer. He should still have a few years on the trail with us, but there's nothing to be done short of making him comfortable and happy. When we rescued him from a shelter he was miserable. He's made us laugh, and we have made him wag. Hopefully, we still have a few journeys left.

29 February 2024 A Leap Day Walk
A day off from the office and a dry Leap Day was a great time for a visit to Ashtabula's Upper Grand River Metropark. A grackle and red-shouldered hawk were sightings from the visit.

It was a beautiful, spring-like day for a lunchtime walk in a local park. I was hoping to spot a few birds that made early arrivals, but this peaceful pair of geese on the water were my only sightings.

22 February 2024 Another Day of Pollution
I needed to travel to Monterrey airport to meet a collegue arriving from the US. Over the years the level of visible pollution has become more intense. This trip was my worst. The heavy smog changed the tone of the colors of the terminal.

21 February 2024 Yet Another Mexico Trip
Monterrery still had a visible bit of moon when I arrived in the early morning.
The blue sky was above the ever-present pollution of daily life.
10 February 2024 End of a Great Vacation
These journeys normally have multiple opportunities for seeing sandhill cranes. This Florida visit was light on spottings. This pair were the best of the journey.
Tricolored heron stretching its wings.
Our only wood stork sighting of the trip was worth the wait
Our journey was coming to an end for this visit as the light faded.

9 February 2024 Panthers, Manatees, and 10,000 Islands
It seems like a different landscape than one expects from Florida. We didn't spot panthers, but the birds were plantiful.
A little blue heron with greenish legs
Heading towards water
Beautiful blossoms
We found the water.
Pelicans were plentiful on our journey.
This one treated us to a wonderful neck stretch.
A great blue heron standing alone
Another pelican spotted
There had to be an alligator somewhere on this journey.
Enjoying a gathering of white ibis
This was a visit for beautiful sunsets.
No panthers. No manatees, but a peaceful journey enjoying the sights and finding a few geocaches.
