9 November 2010 Walking Around San Antonio
I had a break between the end of the conference for the day and dinner plans for the evening. A quick trip to my room to grab my camera, and I was out on the street. I am an engineering geek (and a waymarker) so when I saw the Milam Building and noticed a plaque on the front, I had to stop and read. I now know the Milam Building is an Engineering Landmark. Why? It was the first air-conditioned skyscraper in the U.S. Think about what this building started when it was constructed in 1928. This building changed skylines and migration patterns in this country. Pretty amazing when you think about it. It is still an interesting building as well.
