I was on my way to North Carolina and made a stop in Bridgeport for gas. I spotted this covered bridge sitting near the newer road and stopped for a visit.
The bridge was built in 1881. It first served a half-mile from this location until it was washed out in 1899. The bridge was re-constructed at this location. Eventually the road was rerouted and the bridge was removed from service. It now serves as a small park with a picnic table inside.
If you're going to post graffiti, inspirational messages in chalk are a really benign way to do so.
