18 August 2018 Alum Creek State Park
We planned to spend the afternoon hiking Alum Creek. During the recent weekend trip we had visited and found caches at a few Ohio State Parks which qualified us for the Ohio State Park Challenge. The weather was good when we left home. By the time we reached the park, grey clouds were moving in quickly. We walked the dogs to let them stretch a bit after the ride. Then it was time to wait out the storm.
We tired of waiting for the endless rain to stop and drove toward blue sky. By the time we reached Hoover Reservoir 12 miles away, it was a dry afternoon again.
We found a couple of caches in the woods at Hoover before returning to Alum Creek and a quick stop at the marina for a rain poncho and and a look at a very flat rainbow.
We spent a wet, mostly rain-free walk on the trails at the park ending with finding the State park Challenge as the sun reappeared in time for a sunset near the cache.
