21 August 2010 Corn Festival

The Corn Festival is a local tradition dating all the way back to... oh about 5 years ago. It's a little tough when you don't really have a tradition and try to start one. It's even tougher when people who know the area scratch their heads and say corn? It's not like the area is filled with corn fields.

All the same, the organizers have been earnest and made a great effort at revitalizing the town. I think they have failed at their attempts to bring in tourists, but it's a nice, local event. We were passing through town this morning and stopped for a walk around and a piece of pie.

The buskers we heard were not a great addition.

What's a Corn Festival without cornhole?
