This was our first visit to Geneva Swamp. We weren't certain of what we would find, but we were hoping for some good birding. As always, there were caches to find, but the real focus was on birds we might see.
The marsh was still mostly frozen with only small patches of open water.
When we reached the water's edge, we started to see the eagles. We counted at least five eagles including an immature one in flight.

Ali also spotted a sandhill crane in the distance. It was a wonderful first visit.
