24 April 2018 More Monterrey Trails

I don't drive in Mexico. My engineer is my driver. Our trips to the mountains always take a bit of driving and give me a chance to see the world of Monterrey.

These are everywhere. They are the staple of food delivery. They are also a very dangerous way to make a living.

I commented on the colorful hillsides surrounding the lower altitudes in Monterrey. My engineer explained the colors were chosen by the local government and presented to residents so the colorful view could be created.

Class levels are very distinct in Monterrey. Much like the states where the upper 1 percent continues to amass wealth, the most wealthy in Monterrey live in a different world at the higher points in the mountains while the next level below is filled with modern, secure dwellings.

Prickly pear was everywhere in stages of blossom as we hiked the trails. Their blooms were joined by other spring blossoms.

This was the first time I have seen game cameras on a trail in Mexico. This one was very close to the main hiking trail.

Light had started to fade by the time we reached our highest climb for the evening. The view was worth the effort.

It was time to make our way back down. The light fades quickly on the narrow sections of the trail. Finding one's way down the steep paths as light falls can be daunting.

It was dark by the time we stopped at the last overlook for a view of Monterrey at night.
