Ali spotted pyrola in bloom for the first time at the property. We spent a quiet day walking and I began work on my latest interest, home-made wooden hiking sticks. We started four, two birch, an oak, and a witch hazel. I am torn about making one from chestnut. Small chestnuts are abundant on the property, but the thought of cutting one disturbs me. We'll see how these turn out first.
