20 July 2010 In Pursuit of Central Jersey Delorme Pages

We spent the first half of our day hunting caches at the Merrill Creek Reservoir Environmental Preserve in Harmony. It was a nice place to walk with quiet woods and open fields. The land was filled with butterflies and red raspberries. We don't see hummingbird moths very often. There were a number of them here today. Our last cache here included a surprise sighting of a buck in a bird blind. We should not have been surprised since a previous finder had also found a buck in this bird blind. Still, it's an odd place for a deer to be hanging out.

We made a return to Hunterdon County to make a find of an April 2001 cache at Hoffman Park. After nine years the cache is still hanging on in its original container although the container is starting to rust.

This suspension bridge links the Bull Island Recreation Area to Lumberville, Pennsylvania. After grabbing a cache in the park, we made our way across. Yes, it shakes. ;-)

We ended our day with a group of caches and a quiet sunset at Lake Mercer.
