22 November 2015 ENWR Part 2

We had just visited the Erie National Wildlife Refuge this month, but knew it was a good choice for a walk on the way back to Ohio. We stopped for a cache at the end of a boardwalk trail. We walked about 60 feet on the snow dusted boardwalk before realizing a mile with an excitable beagle would make this a treacherous journey.

We opted instead for a walk along a trail know as Hank's Road and named for the previous land owner. The trail is one large work zone for the beavers. They have felled many, many trees including some of the largest I have seen dropped by beaver chewing.

These steps were an interesting and effective use of old tires.

We ended our journey as an unusual, bright November sunset was closing the day.
