We were out in the rain placing caches for GeoWoodstock in a nearby state game lands. Before we left the parking area, Ali spotted a mountain ash which is fairly rare in the area.
The "something special" portion of our walk came along side the trail in the form of many tall chestnut trees. We've seen a number of chestnuts which continue to survive and fight the blight, including some on our land, but we've never seen them this tall and in blossom. It was an amazing sight. They weren't developing thick trunks but they were many times taller than any we've seen before.
The dogs were really happy to enjoy a few blueberries...
