15 July 2017 The Shed

We were headed northeast for geocaching. Our day started with some pleasant woods time and sighting of a big toad.

There was a cache outside The Shed. The Shed is a small rural museum with a bit of everything rural inside and a few very interesting vehicles. These out-of-the-way places are usually run by a family with a passion for their collections. We had the dogs so we couldn't spend a lot of time, but we enjoyed our visit.

My dad used to have one of these ancient gear jacks. He used it quite frequently to jack up whatever car he happened to be working under. The jacks never seemed to be quite tall enough so the jack had a wooden block below. He would additionally add a block or two above for even more height. Some days I wonder how we all made it out.

Our last stop was the Hatch Run Conservancy. We parked near the education building and gathered a few of the nearby roadside caches.

The Hatch Run grounds are a haven for monarch caterpillars. At the right time of the summer the milkweed plants are covered with the future monarchs feeding on the plants.
